Senior Pet Care
Wellness Care For Senior Pets.
The goal of our health care team is to help your pet live a long, healthy life and allow them grow old with dignity and without pain. That’s why we offer a treatment plan based on your pet’s needs. We understand that every pet is unique and responds differently to treatment. Therefore, we use an appropriate combination of traditional medicine, nutritional supplements, and therapeutic diets. Medications treat symptoms and help make your pet more comfortable. Dietary and supplemental support can help slow or halt the progression of certain diseases, without invasive treatment. We will find the appropriate combination of therapies for your pet.
Communication Is the Key to Health Care
We also believe in clear and honest communication with all of our clients. Your pet is our patient, and he or she can’t speak. We need to work closely with you to develop an effective treatment plan. Your thoughts and observations are critical in determining the appropriate treatment for your pet. You are an integral part of your pet’s health care team.
Monitoring and Managing Your Pet’s Health
It is important to start monitoring your pet’s health while he or she is healthy. Although we have an established range of “normal” lab work values, obtaining your pet’s normal values proves to be invaluable later in life. Your pet’s specific baseline values allow us to detect the most minute changes. This allows for early treatment. Often, it also means there are more treatment options, many of which are affordable and noninvasive. As many illnesses progress, many early treatment options are no longer effective, leaving the costlier and more invasive treatments as our only options.
Talk to us about getting baseline blood work done for your pet. Please start keeping a journal of all the things your adult dog or cat loves to do and is able to do. As he or she ages, this data allows us to see trends that help us understand your animal’s overall health picture.
